The Preschool Special Education Program supports Livingston County children, age three- to five-years-old, who have been found eligible to receive special education services through their school district’s Committee on Preschool Special Education (CPSE).
Eligibility is determined in accordance with New York State Department of Education standards. If you suspect that your child may have a developmental delay or disability that impairs their learning and development, contact your local school district to arrange to have your child's needs assessed by an approved New York State Education Department evaluator. Evaluations are available at no cost to the family.
Under the oversight of the New York State Department of Education, local school districts manage these special education services. New York State and Livingston County fund Preschool Special Education. The Livingston County Department of Health also plays a supportive role for this program, including managing provider contracts, processing payment of services, and providing a municipal representative who is part of each school district’s Committee on Preschool Special Education.
