GENESEO, N.Y., Jan. 2, 2025 — The Livingston County Youth Bureau is calling on community members to nominate outstanding local teenagers for the 2025 Teen Recognition Awards.
This year marks the 30th anniversary of the awards, which the county first introduced in 1995. The yearly event is sponsored by the Livingston County Board of Supervisors and recognizes youth in the county who have demonstrated involvement with their community, displayed exceptional leadership, or have positively influenced others by overcoming a significant challenge. Eligible teen nominees must be currently enrolled in school and at least 15 years old by February 7, 2025.
“Every year, we look forward to honoring those who prove that age is not a barrier to making a difference,” said Youth Bureau Deputy Director Mary Guldenschuh. “If there’s a teen in your life whose actions or behaviors have made our community a better place, we want to know. Please make your nominations today and help give our deserving teens this special recognition.”
Guldenschuh said she encourages community members who interact with area youth in schools, government, organizations, faith communities, neighborhoods, or other areas to nominate a teen whose actions and behaviors have enhanced community well-being.
The Youth Bureau will host a celebration banquet in the spring to honor all Teen Recognition Award winners. The event will feature prominent guest speakers along with a catered dinner for awardees and their families. The Livingston County Teen Recognition Awards have celebrated more than 2,000 local youth over the last 30 years.
All nominations are due to the Youth Bureau by February 7, 2025, at 4 p.m. For nominating instructions and more information on the awards, please visit the Youth Bureau website or call (585) 243-6909.
