Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation Welcomes Scott as Deputy Director of Finance

Home Posted on March 26, 2026

How do you describe your new role at the CNR? Stepping into the role of Deputy Director of Finance for the CNR, I will be responsible for direct budget oversight while developing revenue and funding strategies that maximize all available resources, ensuring the services and infrastructure residents depend on are well supported today and into the future.

What does your day-to-day look like in this capacity? No two days will be the same - some days will be spent head down in spreadsheets, and some days spent with leadership and financial staff in order to translate complex financial information into decisions that will directly benefit our residents and community. This includes:

  • Monitoring daily cash flow and fund balances to ensure the CNR stays fiscally healthy
  • Working with department heads to track their budgets and flag variances early on for resolution
  • Preparing and reviewing financial reports for leadership, stakeholders, including our Human Services board members
  • Meeting with and presenting financial data to the leadership team to align financial decisions that work toward community goals
  • Mentoring financial staff and building internal capacity

What will you be most focused on in your first few months? My first few months will consist of getting to know my team, the facility, and the business systems utilized in order maximize their utility.

How do you think your work will improve County operations? My first priority is to listen and learn, fully understanding how the County operates in order to inform any process change, should it be beneficial. The goal is to build financial processes that make operations more efficient, transparent and sustainable. I also believe there will be opportunity to identify areas for improvement, whether it be related to inefficiencies or potential revenue growth that might have fallen through the cracks. This would move the facility and County to anticipating challenges before they arise to create a more proactive vs. reactive approach.

What do you enjoy doing outside of work? Outside of work I enjoy spending time with my family, my dogs, Buffalo sports teams, hiking/running and anything outdoors, and learning more for professional and personal growth.
