Livingston County Names Studioso as County’s First Compliance Officer

GENESEO, N.Y., June 23, 2025 The Livingston County Board of Supervisors has named Christine Studioso as the County’s first-ever compliance officer, effective today. In the newly-created position, she is tasked with strengthening regulatory oversight and ensuring adherence to federal, state, and local mandates across all County operations.

The Geneseo resident brings more than 13 years of corporate compliance experience to the new role, most recently serving as senior manager for corporate compliance at Navient, one of the country’s largest student loan servicers. There she provided compliance support for the company’s Business Processing and Government Services subsidiaries, including Pioneer Credit Recovery, Duncan Solutions, and Xtend Healthcare. Her responsibilities included tracking federal, state, and local legislative changes; overseeing internal training and remediation efforts; and managing compliance with regulations, such as the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act or HIPAA, the Americans with Disabilities Act, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, and other state and municipal privacy laws.

"We are thrilled to welcome Christine to the County as our new compliance officer,” said County Administrator David Pribulka. “Across our County departments and programs, compliance with state and federal regulations is a continual focus. Having Christine at the helm to guide our many compliance initiatives will allow departments to focus more on their core mission delivery while also ensuring our commitment to the highest professional standards of good government."

Studioso holds a dual Bachelor of Arts degree in adolescent education and mathematics from Houghton College, and a Master of Education in curriculum and instruction from Indiana Wesleyan University. She is credentialed by the Compliance Certification Board as Certified in Healthcare Compliance and is a Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional. Studioso is also a member of the Society of Corporate Compliance and Ethics.

In her new role, she will oversee implementation of the County’s Compliance Plan, chair the County’s compliance and safety committees, and ensure regulatory adherence across departments.  In addition, she will provide education and oversight of the Livingston County Compliance Committee to keep membership apprised of current requirements or changes in statutes or regulations.

“I really want to help foster a workforce and community that knows compliance impacts everyone,” said Studioso. “There are rules and regulations that protect employees, as well as the people who rely on County services. The language provided in these rules and regulations is not always easy to understand, and I would love to help simplify, streamline and tailor the dissemination of compliance information so employees are learning the specific items they need to know for their role.”

Studioso said she looks forward to building relationships across departments and taking a “boots-on-the-ground” approach to understanding how each operates in real time.

“There are so many nuances surrounding rules, regulations, programs, and often they can change quickly,” she said. “Having a solid understanding of how things work will allow me to provide stronger support for the County as a whole. As a County resident, I have a vested interest in its success, and I was incredibly excited to hear this was a role our board of supervisors and county administrator understood the value in having.”

Outside of the office, Studioso enjoys gardening, baking, crafting, reading and hiking the County’s many trails. An advocate for mental health, she also volunteers with the Livingston County Suicide Prevention Taskforce. She and her husband, along with their bernedoodle dogs, Samwise and Pippin, are regular attendees at task force events like the annual overdose and suicide awareness candlelight vigil in Al Lorenz Park and the SUNY Geneseo Out of the Darkness Walk.
