County Veteran Services to Hold Tranquil Trail Ribbon Cutting Ceremony May 27 in Al Lorenz Park

Home Posted on May 13, 2025

MOUNT MORRIS, N.Y., May 12, 2025 The Livingston County Veteran Services Agency will host a ribbon cutting ceremony for the Livingston County Veteran Tranquil Trail (LCVTT) at Al Lorenz Park in Mount Morris on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at 3:00 p.m. The trail is a new, one-of-a-kind mindfulness path which honors veterans for their military service and connects visitors with veteran support resources.

The LCVTT is a little less than a mile long with ten different mindfulness stations located along the trail. A sign at each station offers a mindfulness practice or exercise. While the emphasis of each stop is to encourage visitors to focus their attention on the present moment, the stations also encourage veterans to reflect on their military service.

Livingston County Veteran Services Agency Director David Terry stated, “As part of May’s Mental Health Awareness Month, it is exciting to bring this trail to the veteran community. I have wanted to make such a trail for quite some time and to see it become a reality is a testament to the dedication of the Livingston County Veteran Services Agency and its community partners.”

More than just an easy stroll at the County’s 80-acre public park, the LCVTT involves choices, discussions, and more. Veteran Services Agency officials designed it to be a time of reflection, self-awareness, and exercise. To fully engage in all the trail’s activities takes about one hour, said Terry.

“I am always in awe when something new and unique comes out of Livingston County and this trail is no exception,” he continued. “Though this trail’s focus is on the veteran, its purpose is to serve the family unit. It can be fun and therapeutic at the same time, encouraging conversation and engagement. Anyone can participate and I encourage those in law enforcement, emergency services, or other high stress level professions, no matter their background, to utilize this trail and put themselves in place of the veteran in the exercises.”

The trail is dedicated to former Livingston County Administrator Dr. Ian M. Coyle who served the County for more than 16 years. Terry described Coyle has a true champion of veteran advocacy and mindfulness during his tenure. With the trail combining these dual passions, he said it will serve as a meaningful tribute to Coyle for his years of service to the community.
