Home Posted on September 18, 2024

MOUNT MORRIS, N.Y., Sept. 18, 2024 - The Livingston County Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation (CNR) is now offering paid, on-the-job training to obtain New York State certification as a certified nursing assistant (CNA) with the county’s state-of-the-art skilled nursing facility.

Those interested must first apply and begin working in the certified nursing assistant trainee position at the CNR. In this role, employees will participate in a combination of classroom, skills lab and clinical training to gain the skills and knowledge necessary to obtain New York State certification as a nursing assistant. The next classes for the program will begin on October 30, 2024, said CNR Recruitment Specialist Marianne Miller.

“Not everyone has the ability to take time off from work to attend job training,” said Miller. “This program is a really unique opportunity to jumpstart a career in healthcare right here in Livingston County. We encourage all who are interested to apply now and take advantage of this free on-the-job training today.”

CNAs provide basic care to patients such as making beds, bathing, and meal delivery, while working under the direct supervision of a registered nurse (RN) or license practical nurse (LPN). CNA positions are a common career path for those needing flexible schedules, as well as individuals looking to eventually become an RN.

To apply for the certified nursing assistant trainee position, contact mgmiller@co.livingston.ny.us or visit the Livingston County Job Opportunities page. Applicants must be a current resident of Livingston County.

The CNR has been recognized across the industry as a leading nursing facility. The GLOW Workforce Development Board awarded the CNR with its Business of the Year award for its exceptional job training efforts. The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services presented the CNR with a four-star “above average” quality rating for the facility’s outstanding quality measures, registered nurse staffing, and health inspections.

A short drive from Rochester, the Livingston County Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation offers 24-hour skilled nursing services ranging from short-term, post-acute rehabilitative care to traditional long-term care. The CNR strives to promote a welcoming and home-like environment for residents with activities that involve friends, family, volunteers, and pets.
